Kerob Aslanyan

Shvi, Duduk, Zurna, and Clarinet Instructor

Kerob Aslanyan is an accomplished Armenian folk instrumentalist, educator, and arts leader with decades of experience in performance and music education. He began his musical journey at an early age under the guidance of Mr. Sirak Torosyan, developing a strong foundation in traditional Armenian instruments.

In 1986, he was admitted to the prestigious Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan, where he specialized in Shvi and Duduk under the instruction of Ararat Petrosyan in the Armenian Folk Instruments Department, founded and directed by the renowned composer, Khachatur Avetisyan. He graduated in 1994, marking the beginning of a distinguished professional career.

Mr. Aslanyan has dedicated much of his life to education. From 1991 to 2005, he served as a faculty member at the Echmiadzin College of Music, while also teaching at the Spiridon Melikyan Music School. His leadership abilities led to his appointment as Principal of the institution from 2010 to 2021, where he played a key role in shaping academic and artistic programs.

In addition to his work in education, Mr. Aslanyan is an active performer and respected adjudicator. Since 2010, he has been invited to serve as a judge at numerous music competitions. As a performer, he has appeared as both a soloist and ensemble member with prominent groups such as the Aram Merangulyan Ensemble, the Yerevan State Conservatory Folk Ensemble, and the Armenian State Folk Dance Ensemble. His performances have been featured in concerts around the world.
In recognition of his significant contributions to Armenian culture and music education, Mr. Aslanyan was awarded the Gold Medal by the Republic of Armenia’s “Culture of Armenia” Association in 2021. He has also received numerous additional honors throughout his career.
Mr. Aslanyan is currently a faculty member at the International School of Music, where he teaches Shvi and offers instruction in Duduk, Zurna, and Clarinet. He continues to inspire students with his deep musical knowledge, artistry, and dedication to preserving Armenian musical traditions.
